    China’s Xi says Strait of Hormuz should remain open in call with Crown Prince

    JEDDAH — Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to navigation during a phone call with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He emphasized the need to serve the interests of regional countries and the international community while supporting lasting stability in the region.

    During the call, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Xi reviewed the strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and China, as well as existing areas of cooperation and ways to strengthen and expand ties across multiple sectors.

    The two leaders also discussed the latest regional developments and their security and economic repercussions at the regional and international levels.

    They reviewed ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and reinforce security and stability in the region, particularly with regard to maritime navigation security and its economic implications.

    The discussions also covered the impact of maritime security on global vital supplies and international trade flows.
