MINA — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) continues its operational activities and the delivery of its services and data in Mina in preparation for the Day of Tarwiyah, the first day of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj on Monday. Temperatures on the Day of Tarwiyah are expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius, while eight stations will monitor severe weather conditions.

The NCM relies on an integrated system of advanced technologies and highly qualified Saudi personnel to provide relevant authorities with meteorological data and information on potential weather phenomena through regular hourly updates, in line with international best practices in monitoring and forecasting.

Through its operational meteorological system at the Mina observatory, the center will issue 24 hourly weather bulletins and eight synoptic bulletins on the Day of Tarwiyah, in addition to special reports in the event of severe weather conditions. This is supported by four mobile automatic monitoring stations, as well as warning bulletins and automated alerts issued through the automated early warning system whenever necessary. These efforts form part of the monitoring system in Mina, which includes one manned monitoring station and one automatic monitoring station.

The center also continues its awareness and media initiatives through a package of awareness services offered in five languages, targeting pilgrims and field personnel, with the aim of increasing awareness of weather changes and enhancing safety during the Hajj rituals.

The center forecasts that the maximum temperature in Mina on the Day of Tarwiyah will reach 45 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. Active northwesterly to northerly winds are expected, reaching speeds of up to 35 km/h, with humidity reaching its peak, alongside partly cloudy skies and dusty conditions.

The NCM reaffirmed its commitment to providing meteorological services around the clock in support of national efforts to ensure a safe environment for pilgrims and to promote their comfort and peace of mind throughout the Hajj season.
