TOKYO — Several people are trapped inside a shopping mall that partially collapsed in an explosion after a powerful earthquake struck the Japanese city of Kumamoto on Tuesday, according to Japan’s public broadcaster NHK. The US Geological Survey (USGS) initially reported the earthquake as magnitude 7.1 before revising it down to 6.8. MUNICH, 28th July, 2026 (WAM) — Global electric vehicle registrations continued to rise in the first half of the year, but growth slowed sharply, according to a study by consultancy PwC covering 43 major markets. Around 6.6 million fully battery-powered electric vehicles, or BEVs, were newly registered, up 9 percent from the same period last year.
