An Indian national from the state of Kerala has won Dh20 million in Big Ticket, the raffle announced on Friday. Shamon Shaji, holder of ticket number 229425, was named as the winner of the grand prize in the live draw.

When the two presenters of the show called Shamon to break the news of his big win, his wife told them in a joyful voice that she was already watching the live streaming.

The couple had been participating in the raffle for only three months. Asked about what plans do they have for the prize, his wife said that they have no plans yet but they may explore investment opportunities in Dubai, while also considering participating in Big Ticket again in the future.

Shamon, who is a 32-year-old entrepreneur who runs a business with his wife, is currently visiting Dubai to spend time with his parents.

Recalling the unforgettable winning moment, she added, “We were travelling with my family and watching the live draw on our phones. When the grand prize moment came and the numbers started appearing on the screen, we began counting along, and when it matched, we all started screaming from joy. I still have goosebumps. It hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but we’re all incredibly happy.”

    Winner of fancy car

Ahmed Mohamed, a 40-year-old supervisor from Somalia, has been announced as the winner of a luxurious Maserati Grecale. He has been living in Sharjah since 2005 while his family remains back home, and has been participating in Big Ticket every month as part of a group of over 30 colleagues from his workplace.

Ahmed shared, “We’ve been purchasing tickets every month as a group from the same company. I bought the winning ticket towards the end of the month online, on March 30. There wasn’t much thought behind the selection of the ticket, we simply went ahead with it.”

Speaking about the win, he added, “We’re all incredibly happy. This is the first time we’ve won, and it means a lot to us and our families. While we always hoped to win the grand prize, this moment has motivated us even more to keep participating and trying our luck.” Ahmed said.

During the live draw, five Indians won 200-gram 24-karat gold bars. Among them there were Mohammed Shakil, an Indian expat who lives in Abu Dhabi, Rajopal Chandran, an Indian who resides in Sharjah, Karthikkumar Kaliyaperumal, another Indian expat who lives in Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Maqdoum, who is an Indian residing in Saudi Arabia and Soloman Raja, who lives in India.
