A restaurant in Dubai is offering up to 75 per cent off, but the deal depends less on what you order and more on who you walk in with.

Anna’s by Jimmydixs, located at Barcelo Hotel in Al Jadaf, has rolled out a weekday promotion that ties discounts to your company. Come with family and you get 50 per cent off. Arrive with your wife, it rises to 55 per cent. A girlfriend takes it to 60, and bringing more than two pushes it to 65.

The promotion runs from Sunday to Thursday, between 6pm and 1.30am, and includes complimentary welcome drinks and munchies, alongside music and shisha.

Sucheta Sharma, founder and managing director of Boho Group which runs the restaurant, said the idea was not a gimmick but came from observing customer behaviour.

“Let’s be honest, people here juggle work, families and complicated personal lives. With everything being a bit uncertain lately, going out has also become more  selective,” she said.

“We thought, why not create something that makes it easier to step out and enjoy an evening, whether that’s with family or… other company. At the end of the day, it’s like taking your wife out for dinner and your dinner with your girlfriend is on us.”

The promotion has been widely shared, drawing attention as much for its unusual premise as for the scale of the discount.

Whether anyone actually attempts the full 75 per cent combination is unclear. The restaurant, however, appears unfazed. “If someone manages it,” Sharma said, “we’ll be ready.”
