    King Salman and Crown Prince congratulate new Iraqi President Nizar Amidi

    JEDDAH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman have sent cables of congratulations to President Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amidi on his election and swearing-in as president of Iraq.

    In their separate cables, the King and the Crown Prince expressed their sincere congratulations and aspiration to work together to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the two countries and their peoples. They wished good health and success for the president and continued progress and prosperity for the people of Iraq.

    The Iraqi parliament elected Amidi as president of the country on April 11. Amidi is an Iraqi engineer politician who was a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. He previously served as the minister of environment in the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani from 2022 to 2024.
