RIYADH — The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the regional mayoralties, conducted more than 1.6 million inspection tours during the first quarter of 2026. This is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance compliance, improve the quality of municipal services, enhance the urban landscape, and protect public health in various cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

The ministry said that the inspection tours covered a number of field and regulatory areas, including oversight of public health, markets, visual pollution, buildings, collective housing, diggings, land encroachments, commercial activities, and contractor classification. This reflects the comprehensive and integrated nature of the oversight roles in supporting quality of life and improving urban efficiency.

The ministry indicated that March recorded the highest number of inspection tours during the first quarter with 596,000 tours, compared to more than 562,000 tours in February, and more than 526,000 tours in January, which confirms the increasing pace of field work and the continuous improvement of inspection readiness.

According to the ministry, the distribution of inspection tours across mayoralties demonstrated extensive field efforts in various regions of the Kingdom. “These efforts are an extension of a modern oversight methodology based on smart monitoring, promoting compliance before penalties, and integrating fieldwork with operational data and indicators. This contributes to the swift resolution of observations, improves the user experience, enhances the efficiency of municipal and housing services, and raises the level of satisfaction among residents and visitors,” he said.

The ministry noted that the inspection tours contribute to bringing down violations, regulating commercial activities, addressing visual pollution, ensuring compliance with public health and safety requirements, protecting public facilities, and monitoring construction and digging work. This supports the sustainability of urban development and enhances the attractiveness of Saudi cities, it noted.

The ministry stressed its continued commitment to intensifying inspection tours in all regions, utilizing modern technologies and qualified field personnel, as part of ongoing efforts to build higher-quality and more efficient cities and establish organized, safe, and sustainable urban environments.
