New mobile-first creation tab will allow users to create, test and publish basic games directly within the Roblox app

San Mateo, California: Roblox Corporation has announced Build, a new mobile-first creation tab within the Roblox app, along with a suite of AI-powered tools designed for creators of all experience levels.

Build will allow users to turn a simple text prompt into a basic playable game directly inside the Roblox app. For example, a creator could describe a cosy adventure game set in a dense forest with environmental obstacles, and Build would generate a playable starting point that can be iterated on, playtested, shared with friends, or published on Roblox.

Powered by a broad set of AI models, Build can handle gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visual style, sound, and other elements without requiring users to leave the app. The feature extends Roblox Studio, the company’s free game development tool, into the main Roblox app.

With a shared back end, models, and chat history, creators will be able to begin a project in Build and later enhance it using Roblox Studio. Professional creators will also be able to launch agents from Studio and check progress from a mobile device.

Roblox is also testing new agentic tools across Build and Studio. The suite includes a playtesting agent that identifies bugs before players encounter them, an analytics agent that allows creators to ask questions about a game in plain language, and an experiment agent that recommends tests to improve engagement, retention and monetisation.

“Today’s announcement is putting new tools in creators’ hands no matter their level of experience,” said Vlad Loktev, Chief Creator Ecosystem Officer at Roblox.

“Our new agentic tools help remove the friction for professional creators while Build opens the door to creation for everyone on Roblox and the opportunity to reach millions of users with their games.”

The launch builds on Roblox’s wider push to expand AI-powered creation. The company recently introduced Procedural Models, which generate parametric 3D assets from text prompts or images. Its 3D foundation model, Cube, can turn prompts into game-ready objects ranging from simple props to drivable vehicles. Roblox also plans to launch a new scene-generation model capable of creating editable and playable 3D scenes from a single prompt.

Select Build features will be available in public alpha to users in New Zealand from July 28. Roblox said it will roll out Build to more creators and regions over the coming months as it improves and expands the platform’s capabilities.

During testing, Build will be available to age-checked users aged 9 and above, although ages and availability may vary by region. Published games that pass Roblox’s safety checks will be globally available for age-checked users aged 16 and older.

Before being added to the Roblox Kids or Select catalogues, Build-created games will go through the same extended review process as other Roblox games, join the same candidate pool and be ranked through the same retention-based discovery system.

A base-level version of Build will be available at no cost to creators, with additional paid options planned for power users.
