RIYADH — Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) position in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the death of one soldier and injuries to others.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Saudi Arabia’s complete rejection of attacks on UNIFIL forces and called for all perpetrators of attacks against peacekeeping, relief, and humanitarian personnel to be held accountable.

The Kingdom offered its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased soldier and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

A mortar fire early Thursday on the UNIFIL position near Marjayoun in southeast Lebanon resulted in the death of a Serbian peacekeeper, and the injury of two soldiers from Spain and El Salvador.
