RIYADH — The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing issued and renewed more than 274,000 commercial licenses during the first half of 2026.

Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al Rassasmah said the total included more than 97,000 newly issued commercial licenses and over 177,000 renewed licenses, highlighting the continuity of commercial activities and the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen the business environment through streamlined digital services.

During the same period, the ministry processed more than 91,000 commercial license amendments, over 43,000 requests to add commercial activities, and more than 39,000 license ownership transfers as part of its range of services for the business sector.

Al Rassasmah said the figures reflect the ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize the municipal licensing system, simplify procedures and enhance digital services to accelerate transactions and improve the experience of investors and business owners.

He noted that the Balady platform remains one of the ministry’s key digital enablers, providing integrated municipal services and supporting the private sector.

Al Rassasmah said the continued increase in commercial licenses underscores the attractiveness of Saudi cities as investment destinations and the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at empowering the private sector, stimulating commercial activity and advancing sustainable economic development.
