WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump threatened further military strikes against Iran as tensions escalated across the Middle East, with new drone attacks targeting Kuwait, a tanker struck in the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel intensifying airstrikes in Gaza despite Hamas’ agreement to disarm.
Speaking Friday during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump said the United States would continue military action against Iran until it achieves its objectives.
“We just want to win,” Trump told reporters, warning that the U.S. would strike Iran “very hard” until Tehran changes course.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Iran of violating last month’s truce agreement by attacking commercial shipping and killing American soldiers, saying Washington would continue applying military pressure until Iran returns to negotiations.
Meanwhile, Kuwait said its armed forces responded to a fresh wave of Iranian drone attacks targeting several vital facilities, including a government building in the country’s north. Authorities reported no casualties.
Separately, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Organization said a tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman, damaging its engine room. A second vessel later reported a nearby explosion while transiting the strategic waterway. No injuries were reported in either incident.
The latest maritime attacks come as Iran continues to target vessels attempting to navigate the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.
In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes overnight killed at least four people and wounded dozens, according to local health officials.
The strikes came hours after Hamas confirmed it had agreed to disarm under a U.S.-brokered peace framework aimed at ending the war. The agreement calls for Hamas to relinquish its weapons and transfer authority to an independent Palestinian administration, alongside an Israeli withdrawal and the deployment of an international stabilization force.
Israel has not officially commented on Hamas’ announcement, although Israeli forces said they were continuing operations against Hamas targets following evacuation warnings issued to residents.
In Lebanon, Israeli forces demolished an underground tunnel network beneath the historic Beaufort Castle, saying Hezbollah had used it as a command center. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun criticized the operation, saying it sent “negative messages” ahead of planned negotiations between Israeli and Lebanese officials in Rome over a potential Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in exchange for Hezbollah’s disarmament.
