New NVIDIA-powered facility will scale beyond 70,000 GPUs and 300MW of capacity as Firebird targets a 2GW global infrastructure network by 2028
HRAZDAN — Firebird has officially launched the CIS region’s largest artificial intelligence factory in Armenia, establishing the country as a strategic hub for advanced computing, AI research and technological innovation.
Built using the NVIDIA DSX AI Factory reference design and deployed on Dell PowerEdge servers, the facility provides high-performance computing capacity for developers, startups, enterprises, universities and public institutions to train, fine-tune and deploy AI models locally.
The inauguration was attended by Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia; Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan; David Allen, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Armenia; and senior government officials, technology executives, academic leaders and investors.
Firebird plans to scale the Armenian AI factory beyond 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs by the end of 2027. The three-phase expansion will increase the facility’s AI infrastructure capacity to 300MW, positioning it among Europe’s largest AI computing platforms.
The facility uses NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and integrates accelerated computing, networking, power and cooling within a unified system. According to Firebird, the design can support up to 40 per cent more GPUs within the same physical footprint, improving the value generated from each megawatt of power.
Firebird also announced that NVIDIA intends to invest in the company, following an earlier investment by CoreWeave. The investments will support the expansion of Firebird’s infrastructure and operational footprint across emerging and frontier markets.

“Together with Firebird, we are building AI infrastructure across Armenia and Kazakhstan that will give researchers, startups and industries the computing foundation to develop AI at home, attract innovators from around the world and participate in the global AI economy.”
Firebird’s expansion has already extended beyond Armenia. The company has secured 125MW of AI infrastructure capacity at Data Centre Valley in Kazakhstan, supported by government approvals and export authorisation from the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security.
The company is targeting approximately 2GW of AI infrastructure capacity across Armenia, Kazakhstan and other frontier markets by the end of 2028.
“Firebird combines proven execution, deep partnerships with NVIDIA and leading infrastructure providers, US regulatory expertise and a growing international pipeline,” said Razmig Hovaghimian, Co-Founder and CEO of Firebird.
“Within two years, we expect our global AI infrastructure platform to reach about 2GW of capacity, enabling frontier markets to participate directly in the global AI economy.”
The Armenian facility was delivered in just over six months. Schneider Electric supplied critical power infrastructure, including medium- and low-voltage switchgear, three-phase uninterruptible power supply systems and rack enclosures.
Vertiv provided the facility’s cooling architecture, combining chilled-water technology, advanced controls and TrimCooler technology. Its iCOM CWM Chilled Water Manager centrally coordinates cooling resources as demand changes across AI workloads.
Firebird also named Perplexity as one of the facility’s first customers. The AI company will use Firebird’s high-performance infrastructure to support its answer engine, AI agent services and digital coworker platform.
Michael Dell, Chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, said the AI factory would expand Armenia’s capacity to develop and deploy AI locally while supporting sovereign AI adoption, research and economic growth.
The launch marks the operational debut of Firebird’s global AI infrastructure platform and is expected to strengthen Armenia’s ability to attract AI-native companies, researchers and technology investment.
